Hello all! Please find attached the announcement for our Annual Proclamation Day on Monday, November 8, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. in the Warner Chamber at the Capitol in Lincoln, where the Governor will sign 5 proclamations recognizing national awareness of the importance of: Family Caregivers, Respite, In-Home Care, Hospice and Palliative Care and Alzheimer's disease.  It is a special event for family caregivers and professionals.  During this time of concern about the cost of long-term care, it is more important than ever to remember and celebrate the people who provide 80% of that care - the family caregivers!

After the Proclamation signing, you are invited to attend a Celebration of Family Caregiver luncheon at the Governor's Mansion.  There isn't a charge for family caregivers or elected officials to attend the lunch. The cost for professionals is $20 and includes the lunch and hearing from Julie Masters, well known presenter and Associate Professor of Gerontology at UNO; and Mary Ann Schiefen, Early Development Network Coordinator and mother of an adult daughter diagnosed with Down's Syndrome.  Mary Ann has been an advocate of respite and other supportive services for families for years.

For those organizations wanting to show their support of the importance of our family caregivers, you are invited to provide a $20 scholarship for a family caregiver or Senator to attend the lunch.  Your organization will be recognized for the donation during the program.
